Two Stabbed In Weekend Scuffle
Lawrenceburg Police Department reports indicate that two men received stab wounds during a weekend scuffle near E.O. Coffman Middle School.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were notified of the situation shortly after 12:00 Saturday morning. Officers were summoned to the emergency room at Crockett Hospital in reference to a stabbing.
The victim, a 27-year-old resident of Evergreen Street, told officers that the situation was initiated earlier in the evening when he noticed a man stealing his gasoline jug from outbuilding. He indicated that he chased the man on foot, but that he had been unable to catch him.
A short time later, the victim stated, he was walking to Sugar ‘N’ Spice Market when he saw the same subject. He told officers that they “met up” on East Taylor Street, near the Coffman School driveway. He indicated that he punched the man, and that the man then pulled a pocket knife from his pocket and began stabbing him.
The victim told officers that he was able to get the knife away from the man, and that he then stabbed him in the side. They soon separated, he said, and went their separate ways.
Although the stabbing had occurred around 12:15 a.m., reports show the victim did not seek medical attention until around 1:30 a.m. Officers noted that the victim sustained several cuts and small wounds to the upper torso.
The matter remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
